Entry: Youth Movement? Frye May Get First Start for Browns... Thursday, December 01, 2005

The moment several Browns fans have waited for may finally be here...  Due to knee problems, Starting QB Trent Dilfer may be out for Sunday's game against Jacksonville.  That would mean that 2005 draftee Charlie Frye will get his first NFL start.

After some solid showings in preseason, Frye has thrown only 12 NFL Regular Season passes (completing 6) and has 2 INTs in the process.  As mentioned in Monday's blog, Crennel has mishandled the Frye situation a bit and has been sending mixed messages.  Frye was brought into Sunday's game for 1 of 2 reasons.  A.) To save the day or B.) The game was already lost and he needed action.  In either case, 1 pass (even as an INT) was not enough time to give Frye any sort of confidence.

Under Jack Del Rio, the Jags have proven to play some tough defense.  Despite having no name cornerbacks, their defensive backfield has played well against superior WRs.  As long as Frye isn't locking in to his WRs with his eyes, he should have some success.  I can certainly live with a 250yd, 2 TD, 1 INT performance...  Only 84 hours until we find out!!!
